Woke Up Late: Springtime Outfits

I struggle to get up in the mornings sometimes, I’m getting better but I do still have those days. I absolutely hate feeling rushed and going to school looking like a slob, so I always have a backup outfit on hand. It’s simple and takes almost no time to put together. If I don’t have time to stand in front of the mirror messing with my crazy hair, I throw it in a simple braid or even a quick bun. Stripes are my go to pattern, they look great with almost anything and are an easy preppy essential.

Polyvore

Polyvore is my ultimate savior. I use it so much. I use it to plan outfits from my bed on a lazy weekend day. I just type in the brand name of a shirt or pants and it pops up. From now on, or at least until I get my dressmakers dummy, I will be using polyvore to show examples of my preppiest outfits!

Spring Cleaning!

I am such a neat freak. I love cleaning everything and anything. I clean my room every night once I finish homework, I tidy up before I leave in the morning and I always dedicate at least one day a week to a complete clean out. Although, you’d think I would run out of things to clean, I don’t. I color code my closet, I organize my desk by most important materials, I even store my pens in order of color. My bedroom is like my very own sanctuary. I know where everything is and I always leave it exactly the way I found it. I especially love the top of my dresser, that’s where I keep all of my special stuff. I have my five favorite essay nail polishes, my perfumes, and of course my headbands. If anyone knows anything about me, it’s that my headbands and perfumes are my prized possessions. I never ever let anyone touch them or use them. I don’t have many perfumes, but the ones I have I absolutely love. I have Beachy by Lilly Pulitzer, Miss Dior by Christian Dior, Stay by Gap, J’adore by Dior and I have a lot of perfumes without names that my mom has got for me on her trips. I’ve also collected so many different headbands in so many different styles and colors over the years.

Anyways, back to the subject of this post, spring cleaning time is finally here! This means, I can finally do a giant clean out! For me, cleaning doesn’t just mean cleaning my room/house, it means cleaning everything! I go through my makeup, jewelry, clothes, email, computer, texts, contacts etc and I clean it all out! I delete miscellaneous texts, emails and contacts and I get rid of all my old clothes.

Happy spring cleaning to everyone!

Cold In The City

Tomorrow, I’m heading into the city to meet my friend who I haven’t seen in almost two months. I’m taking the train in and then we’re planning to do some shopping and get a coffee. The weather report seems rather mild, but it’s always colder than predicted when walking around the city streets. So I planned my outfit on polyvore (wonderful site!) and I will upload a screenshot of it. It’s a rather relaxed outfit, but somehow it just looks rather put together!

Springtime is for Trench Coats!

Now that we’ve had the first taste of warm weather, we’re begging for it to stay warm. This week weather has gone up and down, it starts in the low thirties with rain and by afternoon it is sunny and warm. My favorite part of the year is the Spring time. There’s almost nothing better! It’s not super hot, so you don’t have to limit yourself to just wearing shorts and dresses and it’s not so cold that you have to wear a puffy down jacket. It’s absolutely perfect! I can’t wait until it stops raining and I can breakout a pair of Jacks and a cute skirt.

Dressing for the weather during the Spring is one of the hardest things, I think. I can never decide if I should suffer through a cold morning just so I can look cute later on or if I should be warm in the morning and  sweltering in the afternoon. The only conclusion I’ve come to is to dress in layers. I start the day off with my trench coat and a sweater, and by 3 o’clock I have taken the sweater off and just have my trench. Trench coats are truly the savior of springtime. They go with almost every outfit I wear. When I’m wearing my trench, there’s not a single outfit I can wear that doesn’t look sharp.

Throw a trench coat over any outfit for that last minute pop of prep!

I feel like today, as opposed to any other day is a good time to reappear after being MIA for 3 months since it’s been an eventful day in the world of prep. Unfortunately, this morning, Lilly Pulitzer passed away, leaving most preps in shock. A true prep knows that we were all blessed by the impressions that she left on the fashion industry. Rest in peace, Lilly.

Today’s post was on the shorter side, but I’m planning on doing a write up of my recent trip to France for tomorrow.

Merry Christmas little prepites!

Hope everyone’s holiday seasons were bountiful and family filled! Not to be a total consumer, but what was your best present? Or even better, the best one you gave?

This year, I underestimated the amount I was going to spend on gifts for friends, so my families gifts were unfortunately a little less than usual, but still thoughtful gifts. I gave my three best friends necklaces that when put together say something along the lines of “best friends.” Although this may seem like a fourth grade gift, I think they’ll really like them, at least once they arrive! I ordered them a little to late and didn’t realize they would be shipping from Asia, so they weren’t here for them to open.

The best present I got was a gift from my parents and grandmother. I’ve been dying to repaint my bedroom and get new furniture, so I am finally doing that! My grandmother is helping me paint the room, a soft pink, sometime next week. My mom is taking me to a local Ikea, where I’m going to get a new desk and possibly a dresser.

I also got other presents which I absolutely adore!

Merry Christmas everyone!
